Hi! My name is Danica and I’m a natural-light, custom photographer serving the St. Louis area.  I enjoy doing all sorts of portrait work, but specialize in newborn, baby and child photography. I’m originally from Southern California, but have enjoyed time on the East Coast and now in the Midwest as my husband has finished up school.  We have been blessed with two beautiful children, and I must admit, I sort of have to restrain myself from eating them up.

When my son was born in 2006, I found myself wanting to take a hammer to my lousy point-and-shoot camera as I missed one amazing moment after another. I drove to the store determined to buy a better camera. For fun, I picked up a digital SLR and immediately fell in love. I saved up and bought my first Canon in 2007, and enjoyed getting satisfying images of my son. Within a few months, friends started asking me if I’d take pictures for them. I threw myself into the field, and after a long period of portfolio-building, I have finally launched Danica Nelson Photography here in St. Louis!

In 2008, our family grew again to include a baby girl – she and my son are my inspiration and my love for every square inch of them is the driving force behind my photography. As is the case for every parent, images of my children make my heart so happy, and I’m delighted to have the pleasure of working with my clients to preserve their beautiful, shining moments that come and go all too quickly.

I like to combine an artistic, story-telling approach with classic portraiture to create beautiful, fun and fresh views into the lives of my clients.  My personality is relaxed, and I guarantee your experience will be nothing like the ones you’ve had at a chain studio.  I’d love for you to take a look through my professional portfolio to see if my style is a good fit for your family. Then contact me with any questions or to set up a session!  Easy peasy.  I hope to hear from you soon.
